How it works
- 1Open the first version of the document.
- 2Add the second version alongside it.
- 3Step through the pages to see additions and removals highlighted.
- 4Continue in the editor or export whichever version you need.
What this does to your file
Both documents' text layers are extracted and compared word by word, so the report shows exactly which words were added or removed rather than flagging whole paragraphs as changed.
Common questions
Is my file uploaded to a server?
- No. The page loads a PDF engine into your browser and the document is read from disk by that engine. There is no upload endpoint, and once the page has loaded you can disconnect from the network and the tool still works.
Can it compare scanned documents?
- Only if they carry a text layer. Run OCR on each scan first, and bear in mind that recognition differences will show up as changes.
Does it detect moved paragraphs?
- A moved block appears as a removal in one place and an addition in another, which is how word-level comparison works.
Are images and layout compared?
- No, the comparison is textual. Visual differences in images or spacing are not reported.
