Privacy and data handling

Paperplane has no upload endpoint. Files are read and written in the browser.

Runs in your browser

A PDF dropped onto this site is read into memory by the browser. Parsing, rendering and writing happen in the tab, and the finished file is returned as a local download.

Details

  • No account, no email address, no file size cap.
  • File contents never cross a network.
  • Closing the tab discards everything that was loaded.
  • Available device memory is the practical limit.
  • Fonts, scripts and the PDF engine are served from this domain. No third-party requests are made.

What is stored on your device

  • Theme choice, interface language and export settings are kept in this browser's local storage.
  • A single session flag records that a document was open, so a reload can offer the workspace back.
  • None of it contains document content, and clearing site data removes all of it.

Crash reports

If the page fails, the error message and stack trace may be sent for diagnostics. File names are stripped from the message first, and no document content is ever included.

Advertising

Some pages reserve space for future advertising. Nothing is loaded into that space today, and any ad network would be named here before it is switched on.

Exception

Two paths rebuild pages from a high-resolution render, so text in those outputs is no longer selectable: the "Smallest" export preset, and password removal when the lossless path cannot be verified. Every other tool keeps the original page objects intact.
