How it works

  1. 1Open a PDF with form fields or annotations.
  2. 2Decide whether to flatten only the interactive layers or rasterize whole pages.
  3. 3Apply and check that filled values still read correctly.
  4. 4Export the flattened document.

What this does to your file

Flattening draws form values and annotations into the page content and removes the interactive objects, so the values can no longer be changed, cleared or hidden by a reader.

Common questions

Is my file uploaded to a server?

No. The page loads a PDF engine into your browser and the document is read from disk by that engine. There is no upload endpoint, and once the page has loaded you can disconnect from the network and the tool still works.

Why would I flatten a filled form?

An unflattened form still holds editable fields, and some viewers print or display them differently. Flattening fixes what everyone sees to what you filled in.

Does flattening keep the text selectable?

Flattening the interactive layers keeps existing page text selectable. Rasterizing whole pages turns them into images, so choose that only when you specifically want a picture of the page.

Can it be undone?

Not in the exported file — that is the point. Keep the original if you may need to edit the fields again.
